Silverstone Podiums for Sims and Yelloly
There were two terrific podiums for two of my drivers, Alexander Sims and Nick Yelloly, in the GP3 series at Silverstone, England last weekend.
Alexander scored two with a second place on Saturday after coming back from 12th place and tearing through the field. He followed this with a third place after another strong performance in Sunday’s race. Alexander now leads the GP3 Championship.
Nick, like Alexander, is a rookie in this series. It is a big step from Formula Renault UK but the 19 year-old drove superbly to take his first podium in GP3. He also had a solid race on Sunday and finished in 6th place.
I have to also pay my respects to a former client of mine, Dean Smith. Dean is a great driver and able to adapt extremely well to different formulas. It is no secret he has always struggled with budget, hence why he had to stop training with me. Dean has had a very solid to the season, despite not testing at all in the Winter. He finished on the podium on Sunday alongside Alexander. His second of the season.
I really respect Dean as a talent and (more importantly) as a man and I hope he eventually gets the break he deserves in motorsport. I think a lot of people in the sport would echo those sentiments.
Meanwhile there is much racing to do in the many categories I have drivers in, so I Iook forward to reporting on some positive results in the near future.
Until then…
All the best. Gerry.
